The Dreaded Day

Well, the day I have been dreading all summer has finally arrived.  I have cried about his for the past two days.  It is my goal not to cry today! Jackson and I spent all day together yesterday.  We were taking our morning nap when he just started laughing.  It was so precious, and of course that set me off.  When I am at work, I won't be able to hear his giggles when he is sleeping. For some reason, he only does this in the morning. I have always loved my job and always looked forward to the beginning of a new year, but I don't want to even think about school this year.  I know that I am so blessed that my mom is taking care of Jackson. I can't even imagine how I would be acting if I had to take him to daycare! I know that Tim thinks I am crazy, but it is so hard to leave Jackson.

So my goal was not to cry, but of course I did!  I really tried hard not to!

Noni and Tu Tu came over to bring Jackson his present from Los Vegas!  It is so cute!  He loves his dancing gondolier dog!

I am really depressed right now.  I hate that I have to go back to work on Wednesday.  I have been crying all morning. I am so heartbroken about having to leave Jackson.  I am grateful that Mom will have him, but I do not want to leave him!  I have gotten on Tim's nerves about the whole thing I know.  He is tired of my crying.  I just hate all of the stuff that I am going to miss.  He is always in such a sweet mood in the morning, and now I am not going to get to enjoy that. I am hoping that I can get my all of my crying out of the way today and tomorrow, so I won't cry Wednesday morning.  I am buying a lottery ticket on Wednesday, so maybe we will win and I can quit!

Charleston 2011

We took Jackson on his first road trip this past weekend.  Even if it was short, it was nice to get away.  We left early Saturday morning and came back Sunday night. We stayed with Mike and Mardie in Charleston. Jackson loved his mini vacation.  He was so good the entire time we were gone! He did really well in the car and slept most of the time. He loved Mike and Mardie's house with all of the fans and lights. He loved being held by Mardie and Laurel. We ate dinner at the Crab House and he stayed awake the whole time and didn't make a sound!  He just took everything in.  He slept from 11:00 Saturday night until 6:15 Sunday morning.  That is a record! 

We took Jackson to the beach at Kiawah on Sunday morning. It was beautiful, and Jackson loved it.  He was asleep at first, but soon woke up.  He did not like the sun in his eyes, but he loved putting his feet in the water!  It was so cute.  I can't wait to take him on the Griswald Beach Trip next summer!

Shem Creek Bar and Grill

We went to the outlets and got Jackson some cute clothes. Janie and Jack is my new favorite store.  Of course, I can only afford it when it is on sale. Then we went to Ragamuffin's in Mount Pleasant and bought some cute clothes on sale. Jackson also got his first pair of Sperry's!  They were originally $45, and I got them for $13.50!  I remember going to that store when Alexa was little!  Then we ate dinner at Shem Creek Bar and Grill.  We headed home after that.  Jackson was so happy to get out of his seat and stretch.

2 Month Check-Up

Jackson had his 2 month check-up today.  The poor thing had to have 3 shots and an oral medication.  He did really well.  He only screamed when he got poked, and then he was fine.

Weight: 13 lbs 11 oz  90th percentile
Height: 22 3/4 in  50th percentile
Head: 41.5 cm 86th percentile

Even though we have spent a lot of time on our right side, Jackson's flat spot has progressed and the muscles on the left side of his neck are not as strong. Having the flat spot is known as Plagiocephalic, and the weak neck muscle is known as Congential Torticollis. For the next two months, Jackson is going to have to go to physical therapy to try to fix these two conditions. The good news is that both of these can be fixed, but if it progresses further, we might be looking at a helmet. Apparently, this has become a common condition in newborns because they now sleep on their backs. Please pray that the physical therapy will work, and that the helmet will not be needed.

Jackson is 2 months old!

I can't believe that Jackson is 2 months old!

Jackson:

• Smiles and giggles a lot!  He is always giggling and smiling in his sleep!
• Wakes up in such a good mood!
• Is generally a happy baby.  He gets a little fussy in the evening, but it is nothing that a good cuddle can't solve.
• Likes to play on his own more.  He will lie on his mat and look around.
• Likes to stand up and bounce.
• Holds his head up really well!
• Likes music!
• Has rolled over 6 times during Tummy Time. ( I think it is because he HATES Tummy Time.)
• Loves to sit in his Monkey Bouncy Chair!
• Eats 4-4 1/2 ounces at each feeding expect the last feeding which is 5 ounces. He still eats almost every 3 hours.  He is starting to go longer!
• Loves to be held and cuddle! ( I hope that never changes!)
• Is sleeping better at night!  His night sleeping is still not consistent, but he has gone up to 6 hours! YEAH!
• Met Uncle Dave and Susan for the first time.
• Has a new nickname-Action Jackson.
• Goes for his two month check-up tomorrow!  I am not looking forward to all of the shots!
• Wears 3 months clothes.  Some are still a little big.
• Wears Size 1 diapers.  We will be moving to Size 2 soon!
• Has been to lots of restaurants now!
• Loves to look at lights and fans!
• Still HATES the crib and the pack and play. He loves to lay on our bed and giggle and smile!
• Enjoys riding in his car seat now.  The car always puts him to sleep!
• Loves to be rocked and swing in the hammock.

These past two months have gone by so fast!  Tim and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful baby.  We can't imagine our lives without Baby Jackson!

I have a new obsession!  I had seen this on other blogs and decided that I wanted to try it!  Beware!  It is addictive.  Pinterest helps your organize and keep up with all of the great ideas you find on the internet.  I am always finding something cute like a craft or recipe, and then I have to bookmark the page or print it.  With Pinterest, you don't have to do that.  You simple "Pin" what you like. Here is one I am working on for Holiday ideas.  I am already collecting great crab ideas for Jackson's first birthday!

A Day in the Life- Summer 2011

I have seen on other blogs where people have written "A Day in the Life" to chronicle what their daily lives were like at a particular time.  I thought it would be great to document a day in Jackson's first summer.  Here is our typical day.

4:00-6:00 am This is when Jackson typically wakes up to eat.  He is usually pretty happy and only cries a little bit.  He goes back to sleep after this feeding.

7:00 am   Jackson usually wakes up again and stays awake for a little while.  Then we snuggle on the couch and watch/doze the Today Show.  We will usually sleep until 9 or even 10 or even 10:30!  Then it is time to eat again.

10:30 am   It is time to eat again! Jackson usually stays awake after this feeding, so we get dressed and have some play time.  He likes to play in his room and lie on his jungle mat.  When he is tired of that, we play upstairs in the swing, monkey bouncer, or on his mat.  He will usually stay awake for about 2 hours, and then it is nap time again.

1:30 It is time to eat again! Jackson doesn't usually stay up after this feeding.  It is back to sleep.  Then he is up again around 2:30-3:00.  He will stay awake until his next feeding.  He loves to lie on his mat and play.  We do Tummy Time.  He does NOT like this!

4:30 Jackson is eating again.  He and I talk and sing after this feeding.  Then it is our favorite time of the day.  We cuddle and nap on the couch!

6:00 Daddy usually gets home about this time. One of us cooks dinner.  Tim has been grilling a lot this summer! Jackson usually naps during our dinner.

7:30  It is time to eat again!  Depending on how hot it is, we might go for a walk or sit outside or go for a ride.

8:00-8:30 Bath Time- Jackson is now taking a bath in his big boy bathtub.  He likes a bath!  Then we put on his night time lotion and his pajamas.  Then it is time to read Goodnight Moon and Welcome Little One. Sometimes, Jackson is wide awake and likes to play more.  Other times, he is sleep and just wants to chill. Tim likes to lay on the bed with him.  That is their "Daddy time."

10:30-11:00 Jackson eats again.  We usually give him 5oz at night to help him sleep longer.  Then he is ready for bed by 11:30.  We put him in his rocker and off to sleep he goes for hopefully 4-6 hours!
