Brooks is 2 months old!

Little Brooks is 2 months old and getting sweeter by the day!  We are so blessed with this little guy or little dude as Jackson calls him!

Brooks

• eats 4 1/2 ounces every 3 hours.  He still wakes up every 3-4 hours at night.  Even though I am exhausted, I do love the cuddle time.  He makes these little grunts and whimpers when we wakes up.  He never cries.
• wears size 3 months
• wears size 1 diapers
• loves his popi (paci). Jackson did make up a story and told us that a green bird took Brooks' popi!
• smiles a lot ( Grandma and Grandpa have gotten lots of smiles out of him!)
• giggles in his sleep
• coos and talks
• loves to cuddle and be held
• is a really happy baby. He gets a little cranky around 8 pm and just wants to be held
• loves his swing and tolerates the bouncy chair and Boppy lounger
• thinks Jackson is funny
• nicknames: Brooksie, Brooksie Boo, Booksie, Little Dude

Jackson loves his Brooksie and always has to kiss him good night.  He always wants to know where Brooks is when I pick him up from school.

It has been an exhausting two months as we have learned how to be a family of 4, but we have loved every minute and can't remember what it was like to be a family of 3!

Brooks goes for a check-up in a few weeks, so I will update weight and everything then.

Jackson's First Field Trip

Jackson had his first field trip at Summer Fun the other day. The 2s and 3s walked to Cater's Lake to feed the ducks. I was so glad that I got to go with him. Grandpa joined us too. Of course the ducks wanted no part of the bread or the kids. The kids didn't care though; they just wanted to run around! I think they enjoyed swinging the most. Jackson was so good today. He didn't cry when I dropped him off or when we left a second time. I love getting to drop him off and then pick him up in the afternoon.

Happy 4th of July!

This year the 4th of July was a complete washout!  It poured and stormed all day and night.  We tried to grill during a break, but Tim and his dad still got wet! We still enjoyed the evening though. My parents came and enjoyed dinner with us.

Brooks is wearing the same outfit that Jackson wore two years ago when he was exactly one month old! Look!  We actually got a picture of the two of them!  This is the closest that Jackson has ever gotten to Brooks.  He has never sat beside him!

Jackson was very intrigued with the sparklers!  I know he wanted to do it, but I would not let him. I am turning into my own version of Safety Sally!

A Typical Day

I thought I would write about a typical day. Our days are different Tuesday-Thursday because of Summer Fun an30-d story time. 

6:00-7:00 Brooks is awake and ready for his morning bottle

7:00-7:30 Jackson is awake and ready for his "soothie" or smoothie.

7:30-9:00/10:00 Brooks usually sleeps and Jackson plays and eats breakfast.

9:00/10:00 Brooks has his mid-morning snack and then goes straight to the swing for his morning nap

10:00-12:00 I take a shower and get dressed.  Jackson gets dressed, and we play downstairs or out on the porch. Sometimes we do a craft.

12:00 Jackson and I eat lunch and play downstairs

1:00 I wake Brooks up and feed him.  Jackson watches Mickey Mouse and calms down?

1:30-2:00 Jackson and I lie down for a nap.

2:00-4:00 Jackson naps. Brooks eats, and then we play.

4:00-6:00 We play downstairs or on the porch depending on the weather.

6:00 Dinner

7:00 Water park or play outside

8:00 Baths and books

9:00 Jackson goes to bed and Brooks has to be held. He is fussy during this time.

10:30-11:00 Brooks eats again.

Brooks is 8 weeks old!

My little baby is now 8 weeks old! Brooks continues to be such a good baby!

• will consistenly sleep 4 hours every night (We keep hoping for more!)

Finally Saturday!

We enjoyed a very busy Saturday.  We woke up early to head to the Downtown Market to get the ymmy peach salsa!  Then we took Brooks to eat at Mary Beth's for the first time.  Jackson ate lots of pancakes, and Brooks slept right through it.  Jackson had the choice of going to the museum or the zoo, and he picked the zoo.  Brooks slept through his first trip to the zoo, and Jackson loved running around and seeing Kiko. We ran a couple of more errands to Hollipops, Buy Buy Baby, and Costco.  The boys were wonderful!  Then we headed home for naps.  We had a great but busy day!

]ust the 3 of Us... Again

Tim was in San Antonio for five days, so it was the three of us again. We were very busy with a birthday party, appointments, and school. Jackson spent the night with my mom and dad almost every night.  It is hard to get Jackson to bed when Brooks is usually fussy at that time of night. The boys stayed with my mom several times since I had a dentist appoinment and eye appointment.  Jackson had school and seems to be adjusting better.

I am trying to do a different theme week with Jackson this summer.  This week was our bug week, so we read books about bugs, made a bug jar, and looked for lightning bugs. We also did a bug puzzle thanks to Noni.  Next week we are working on shapes, gardens, and 4th of July.

Jackson went to his first dentist appointment at Anderson Pediatric Dentistry. He enjoyed playing with the lego table but cried during the whole exam.  They just brushed his teeth and counted them.  He was excited when we left because he got a ball.  He was upset when we left because he wanted to play with the legos.

I had both boys Tuesday night and was pretty proud of myself for getting them both to bed. They were both really good!

On Wednesday, Jackson and I had to take the car to get serviced.  Berkley met us there and entertained Jackson. Luvie came down and showed him the car being worked on, and he got so upset.  He kept saying, "Mommy's car, Mommy's car."  Then he and I went to Hollipops.  The toy store just opened in Greenville.  I always loved going to the one in Mt. Pleasant when I was little.   Jackson loved it too.  In fact, I had to drag him out literally!  Then we went to the new Toys-R-Us.  Jackson was really good in there.  We also stopped by Trader Joes where Jackson decided that he loved their macaroni and cheese.  Then it was off to the airport to pick up Tim.  His plane was late, so Jackson and I wandered around the garden waiting for him.  We picked up Brooksie from my parents' house and headed home.  The boys were glad to have Daddy home, and I was glad to have reinforcements.  I am very lucky to have my parents nearby to help out. I never would have made it through this week without them!
