Family Visits and 8 Weeks Old

Family Visits
Jackson was lucky enough to meet more Fillippeli family members this weekend.  Susan and Uncle Dave came to Anderson for the weekend.  It was so good to see both of them.  They both enjoyed meeting "Action Jackson."  Susan made him some precious bottles!  We even got to hear some WWII stories from Uncle Dave on Sunday.

Eight Weeks Old
Jackson is now eight weeks old.  He is starting to smile and giggle more.  He loves to cuddle!  He is more alert and likes to play more on his own.  Look for a big 2 month update soon!

The Last Week of July

It is so hard to believe that it is the end of July!  Where has the summer gone?  Jackson and I have had a busy week.  My mom kept him some everyday so that I could work out at the Rec.  It was nice to get back to exercising.  I have just finished my second week on Weight Watchers, and I am proud of how well I have done.  I don't have any clothes that fit, so I had to do something!

On Thursday, Jackson, Charlotte, my mom, and I went to Greenville for the day. We went to a consignment sale and got Jackson some cute new clothes.  Then we went to eat at this new restaurant, Your Pie.  You can get to design your own pizza kind like a Subway but for pizza.  It was really good, and my whole pizza was just 14 points.  I love pizza, so it nice to find somewhere I can go eat pizza and not blow all of my points.  Then we went to the mall.  It was a nice day out even though it was miserably hot!

7 Weeks Old

Jackson is now 7 weeks old!  He decided to spend the day AWAKE!  We went to the Farmer's Market in Greenville and then to eat breakfast at Mary Beth's.  We stopped by to visit my parents and then went home to take naps.  He woke up at 4:00 and stayed awake until 11:30!  He did catnap some maybe totaling an hour and a half!  It was crazy.  He did not want to go to sleep.  He was awake again at 4:00 and did not go back to sleep until close to 5:30! He loves to play and listen to music now.

I am too cute!

Jackson also has a new trick.  He can roll over!  He has done it 6 times now, and I actually got it on video!  He is getting so big!

Jackson and I spent a lot of time at home this past week.  It was kind of nice to be lazy and do nothing!  I trying to soak it all in before I go back to school.  We went to the Watson's and had Low Country Boil, so that inspired us to buy a big pot to make our own.  We made some on Saturday, and it was wonderful!

6 Weeks Old and a Sleeping Baby

Jackson was six weeks old on Saturday!  He is getting so big.  We slept in on Saturday morning and then headed to Greenville.  It was Jackson's first walk at Cleveland Park.  We also went to eat lunch at McAlister's and then headed to Moppets for their sale.  I can only afford that store when it is on sale! We did get Jackson two cute outfits!

I have been spending some time researching how much babies sleep and when they sleep through the night.  There are so many different books out there and so many different ideas.  Some books say to put them in the crib and let them cry.  Others say that you should feed them at certain times.  Others say that babies should be on strict schedules!  Then of course most of them scare you and say that if you don't do this right now, then your child will NEVER sleep! I am not sure how all of these people know this!

1 month Check-Up

Today we went for Jackson's one month check up!  Check out his latest stats!

Weight: 11 lbs, 10 oz
Height: 21 1/5 inches
Head: 40

Overall, Jackson is doing very well.  We are going to have to watch his head because of the flat spot.  Due to the use of the vacuum, Jackson's head was swollen on one side.  He has never wanted to put pressure on that side, therefore causing a flat spot on the left.  Right now we are encouraging him to lay on the right side.  This is a very difficult thing to do.  We will reevaluate at our next appointment the beginning of August. Hopefully it will get better so we don't have to do anything else!

The Iveys gave me a new Clemson hoodie!

The Men of the House

Since Jackson is still only sleeping 3-4 hours at a time at night, we are going to try a soy formula at night to see if that will fill him up for longer.  If that doesn't work, we will start adding a little cereal to his formula.  Our goal is also to get him to sleep in his pack-and-play or crib just to get into a better routine!  We will see how that goes!

Jackson's first pet!

Even though we already have two cats and a dog, Jackson now has his own pet!  On Tuesday, Kristi, Tu,Tu, Cookie, Berkley, and Nicole came by to bring Jackson a surprise-his own hermit crab from the Hammock Shops!  Now we just have to come up with a name!

Anniversary

Today is our 2 year anniversary!  It is hard to believe that it has already been 2 years! We are not doing anything big this year.  We are going to go to dinner and a movie on Friday while my mom watches Jackson. We decided not do gifts/cards this year since we have had so many big expenses lately. Of course, we wouldn't have it any other way!  We would both rather have Jackson than anything else. Brent and Whitney have also volunteered to watch Jackson, so maybe we will have another date night too!  I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man who is a great father and friend. I wouldn't have my life any other way!

We have both started our diets today too. We both gained some pregnancy weight that has not come off yet!  I can officially start exercising next week, but we are starting to watch what we eat this week. My goal is to lose 25 pounds by Christmas.  I really want to lose 10 pounds by the time school starts.  When I lose 10 pounds, I am buying myself a pair of Switchflops that I have been wanting.  That is cheaper than having to buy a whole new wardrobe because NONE of my clothes fit!

5 Weeks Old

Don't worry!  I am not going to update every week of his life!  I know I say this all of the time, but I can't believe how big Jackson is getting!  He is so alert now, and is holding his head up more and more each day!

Jackson and I both have enjoyed having Tim home this week.  I hate that he has to go back to work on Monday!

I have two projects that I want to finish before school starts. I am going to make Jackson a set of blocks, and then I am going to make a sign for our house. I have most of the stuff to complete the blocks, so that is one of my goals for this week.  I will post pictures when I am done!

I am also depressed because summer is almost over.  I don't even want to think about it, but I have to go back to school one month from tomorrow!  How am I going to be able to leave Jackson all day?

Friday, July 8, 2011

Today was a sad day, because we had to say good-bye to Grandpa John, Grandma Jeanne, and Aunt Susie!  We had a great week, and it was hard to see them leave. We don't get to see them as often as we would like. It is hard on Tim, and I know that he misses them a lot. I am so glad that they got to meet Jackson.  He loved having them here and enjoyed all of the attention!  In fact, he was cranky all Friday night.  I think it was because he missed them being here.  Jackson is a lucky little boy to have so many people who love him!  He is truly blessed with a wonderful extended family.  I hope that one day he will realize how blessed he is.

Today we headed up to northern Greenville to find Campbell's Covered Bridge and the Poinsett Bridge.  Tim and I had not been there before, so we had to find our way. It turned out to be a great day trip.  Both bridges are beautiful, and the drive was nice too! Then we went to Sticky Fingers and ate a wonderful dinner. Jackson did pretty good in the car today.
