Last Weekend in January

We had a busy but fun weekend. Friday night we went to church and played in the fellowship hall with the Watson's. The boys had a great time, and we enjoyed a break!

On Saturday we went to Charleston for Brynlee's birthday party. We stopped at the Aquarium first.

We had lunch at Fleet Landing. The boys were really good and even got s compliment from the table next us. Then we headed to the party.

Snow Day/ Ice Day/ Rain Day

The news has been calling for a winter storm all week to hit Thursday- Saturday. Last year the called for a huge storm that never happened. We all ended up out of school today. It was mainly heavy rain and wind until around noon. Then the freezing rain and ice pellets started.

We enjoyed a lazy day at home. Brooks and I stayed in our pajamas all day. We all took naps too since the boys were wide awake way before 6:00. We took down the bunk beds to form single beds. We made cupcakes and played. The boys were only in school 1 day this week so they have definitely had too much togetherness.

Jackson and Tim went out to play in the ice before dinner. Brooks was grumpy so he just watched.

After dinner the boys decorated their cupcakes and made the biggest mess with sprinkles.

We took baths, and the boys talked to Grandma and Grandpa. Jackson was getting ready for bed when it finally started snowing! We all went out in our pajamas. Brooks was convinced that Santa and the Polar Express would be arriving any second. He kept asking , " Whete's Santa? Whete's Polar Press?" As soon as we got outside, the snow basically stopped. Jackson said, " I guess The Weather Channel turned the snow off."
We don't even have an inch but they had fun. Jackson has big plans for tomorrow-snowman, snow castle, snowball fight.

We had an indoor snowball fight today and lost one of our snowballs. The boys had another one tonight and now 3 are missing. I reminded Jackson that we were already missing one. He was very quick to point out that was two more than before. I wan impressed!

Saturday Snow Day

We woke up to almost 2 inches of snow on Saturday. Jackson was up at 7 ready to get outside. We were bundled up and outside by 8:00. The boys loved throwing snowballs and getting pulled in the sled. We tried to make a snowman but the snow wouldn't stick together.

We drove to Noni's house in hopes of sledding down bigger hills, but we had more snow than she did. The boys did build a snowman, and Jackson went down the neighbor's hill a few times. Brooks did not want to sled because he was cold. We took a break and then went outside to throw more snowballs. Brooks loved yelling, " I'm going to get you!" He has pretty good aim! We headed home around noon. The sun was out, and everything was melting. By the time we got home, our deck was the only thing left with snow. Jackson and I played a few more minutes, but he got bored quickly. We enjoyed some snow ice cream for a snack.

It was the perfect snow. It was pretty for a few hours and then was gone!

The snow on the deck lasted until Sunday afternoon so we had another quick snowball fight after church.

Central Skate Night

Tonight was the church Skate Night. The boys had so much fun! This was the first time they both skated. I am proud of Jackson for trying it. Brooks got daring and started jumping.

Brooks loved getting to play with his buddy Grady. They gave each other high five and fist bump before leaving.

The Raw Truth about January

January is probably my least favorite month. It is too cold to go outside. It is too wet to go outside.  School is really busy, and I always have a ton of work to do. It gets dark at 5:30. Have I mentioned that it is too cold to go outside? The month seems to last forever!

My goal was to leave school by 3:30 every day. That lasted 1 day before it was 6:00 before I was leaving again. I love getting to school when it's dark and leaving when it's dark! Again another reason to dislike January!

The boys quickly adjusted back to our usual schedule. I am so grateful that they both love school and church. Jackson has been working hard on writing his name. Brooks has just started potty training. He is still in diapers but usually goes when he sits on the potty.

We found out that Baby #3 is another boy. He still has no name because we are out of boy names. ( Names are really limited when you are a teacher.) Of course, maybe we will use Jackson's suggestions- KiKi or Thumper. I have been a little disappointed because I don't get to decorate the nursery or buy clothes. I just can't justify spending money on new stuff when we already have everything. Sorry, new baby! ( Brooks didn't get any new stuff either!)  We are very blessed that New Baby is healthy, but I am definitely sad that I will miss out on dance recitals, big hair bows, and baby dolls.

I am both sad and relieved that this is our last baby. I love baby snuggles, but a baby is exhausting. I am a little worried about how I am going to function with so little sleep. I didn't have the thyroid issue when the other 2 were newborns. This baby is going to have to be easygoing because our summer is already packed with activities!

On a high note, we did get to watch Clemson play for the National Championship! We really wanted go, or I guess I should say that I really wanted to go. Again, it is hard to justify spending money on that (about $3000 total). It turned out to be a great game, and the Tigers kept fighting until the end! Even though we lost, I hope that it showed the media that Clemson is capable of playing with the top teams.  Staying up until 1:00 am ruined the rest of my week though. I have been exhausted! Thousands of people were in Clemson to welcome home the team. We rode up there but watched from the car-too cold to stand outside. Plus one was asleep!

I am thankful for a day off tomorrow even though we will be stuck inside- the high is supposed to be 43 tomorrow. We have been cleaning out all of the closets in the house. My goal is to clean out Jackson's tomorrow and maybe clean out the attic (probably too cold though).

Orange Bowl

We had a great time at the Orange Bowl in Miami! It was even better that we left with a win and a trip to the National Championship!

We left Tuesday night and spent the night with Lisa in Atlanta. I was sad leaving the boys. We got up early Wednesday and were at the airport by 7. Our flight was delayed because of the thunderstorms so we didn't leave until 10 but made it to West Palm Beach before 12. We rented our car and headed to Ft. Lauderdale. Cookie had a meeting at a hotel across from the beach so we walked on the beach. It was warm and windy. The sand was really gritty and kind of dirty. The beach was packed!

We decided to head down to South Beach for the Clemson pep rally. The traffic was horrible! Plus people drive crazy there! It took us forever to find a place to park, and we ended up in a sketchy garage. The beach was packed! The pep rally was kind of boring. The band and cheerleaders were there along with Taj Boyd.

South Beach is full of interesting people. It took us forever to get out and back to 95. We finally made it back to West Palm around 9:00, ate dinner, and stopped at a sketchy Publix for chicken salad. Eating chicken salad brings the Tigers good luck!

We got up early on Thursday and headed to Miami for the game. We got there by 10:00 and set up to tailgate. I was amazed at all of the people who drove to Miami with all of their tailgate gear! It was packed with orange like a home game! We walked around the stadium and got see the team arrive. My mom even got a picture of Deshaun Watson when he came over to talk to his mom.

We walked in the stadium about 3:00 and headed to our seats. Mom and I were 4 rows from the top! It was great because we could see everything, but it was a hike up there. It was also hot, but I loved every second of it! The temps were in the mid-80s, my favorite!

It was an awesome game! I was worried in the first half, but they came out to win in the 2nd half! The final score was 37-17! We made our way down to wear Cookie, TuTu, and Rivers were sitting to watch the trophy presentation. It was awesome seeing Dabo and the players so excited! It was fun watching them dance and sing the alma mater!

We tailgated out in the parking lot and then went looking for pizza. We got back to the hotel around 11:00' rang in the new year and ate pizza. We left for the airport around 6 Friday morning. We were back in Atlanta by 11:00. We made it home in time to get to Clemson and welcome the team back in the bitter cold! I hate cold weather!

We have seriously considered making the trip to Phoenix, but we can't justify $3000 for a 3 day trip plus losing pay because I don't have any more personal days because I used them for Disney.  I hate to miss out on it. Clemson won the National Championship back in 1981! We will cheer them on from here and hopefully get to go to Clemson to welcome home the team!
