Where did August go?

This month has flown by! We have been so busy that we have not had time to catch our breath.  We leave by 7 and get home between 4:30-5:30. Then it's time to cook dinner, clean, get stuff ready for the next day, give the boys a bath, put the boys to bed, and start the whole process again. We don't have a free weekend in sight, and I have no idea when I will sleep in (later than 7:00). I am trying to convince myself that the busyness is a blessing. It means we have jobs, we have people to see, and the boys have activities. It is really exhausting though.

Jackson had his first homework this week. If this is what our future holds, we are in trouble. Last week they focused on the letter A. He had to find a picture of something that started with A, cut it out, and glue it. He also had to practice writing his name. It was torture for everyone.

Jackson also had his first soccer practice. He was very clingy at first and did not want to do anything. Brooks and one his friends were everywhere. He did better once Brooks and I left. He has practice twice a week. Games will start after Labor Day.

We also took a day trip to Charleston for Reed's first birthday party. We stopped downtown for hot biscuits at Callie's and lunch at Fleet Landing. The boys loved the boats. We walked down the dock, and Brooks was wild. Both boys ended up getting soaked in the fountains. Jackson started it, and thenBrooks wanted to join in. He ripped the brace off and handed it to me before running in the water.  It was so funny.

We had a great time at the party. The boys were excited to play with Brynlee, and they loved running through the sprinklers. Poor Brooks (and Jackson too) have missed out on so many water activities this summer. Thankfully they slept the whole way home.

We are celebrating Brent's birthday today and trying to clean up the disaster that is our house.

Clemson Fan Day

We had a great time at Fan Day. Brooks had the most fun. He really got into it. He loved getting all of the autographs. The cheerleaders were all asking about his arm, and he was proudly showing it off. He loved the Tiger. He caught on really fast how to pass his autograph book. He loved the players especially the ones who also had broken arms. He didn't hesitate to give them high fives and fist bumps.

Jackson didn't really care. He had fun running on the field, Brooks liked rolling on the field. We are excited about football season.

Brooks and His Cast

brooks went back to the orthopedic doctor today. They sawed the cast off which was traumatic for everyone. It was very loud, and he screamed and cried. " Mommy, I done! I done, Mommy! I done! Then he cried through the x-Rays. The doctor said that is healing nicely, but Brooks does have to wear a brace for the next 2 weeks. Thank goodness we can take it off for baths. Trying to give that child  a bath with a cast was not fun. His pour arm is raw where the cast rubbed. He was so excited to show Jackson when we got home. He ran up to him and said, " Jackson, arm." He really loved showing people his cast, and now he likes showing off his brace.

We celebrated with Chick-fil-a, a walk, and a nice bath!

First Day of School

I had a great first day with my students yesterday! Jackson and Brooks started today. I hate that I couldn't be there to take them, but I couldn't leave my class. Tim and Noni took them and walked them in. They took Brooks first, and he was really excited. However once he realized that he was being left, he cried. Jackson on the other hand walked right into his classroom. I am so proud of him! He has come such a long way since his first year in preschool.

They were both happy when school was over and seemed to have had a great day!

Preschool Orientation

The boys got to meet their teachers today. We took Brooks to his room first. He walked right in and started playing. I think he is going to love Mrs. Treffeisen and Mrs. McDaniel. Jackson was a little more timid walking into his room, but he was able to find his cubby and walked around his room. His teacher Mrs. Owens is very nice. I think they are both going to love it!

Week 1

So Week 1 is done, and I am exhausted. Yes, I only worked 3 days, but I can barely move. My room is done, orientation is done, and district meeting is done. Thursday and Friday I might have seen the boys awake for maybe 2 hours ( not 2 hours each day, but 2 out of 48 hours). On Thursday, I left home at 7:30 am and didn't get home until 8:30pm. The boys have done well adjusting, but they had a rough day on Thursday.

I had a doctor's appointment in Greenville on Friday afternoon, so Tim and I had dinner at Brick Street afterwards to celebrate my birthday. The sweet potato cake did wonders for a long week.

We slept in this morning and then enjoyed breakfast at Eggs Up Grill. We went to new book store in downtown Greenville.  Both boys fell asleep on the way to Costco and slept the entire time we were there.  We spent $300, so I can only imagine what we would have spent if they were awake.

Tonight we went to the Iver kids' party. They had a movie night. The boys loved running around. Brooks especially loved the watermelon and the hay bales. It was a cute party, and they boys definitely needed a bath!

I had a great birthday on Sunday. My boys gave me a necklace. Then we had pizza and red velvet cake at my parent's house.
