Fun Summer

I have really enjoyed being home with the boys this summer. We have Bible School this week. Then I will be working at school some the next week. I am really depressed that summer is almost over! The boys and I have had fun just being together, and I know our time will be limited when school starts back. Jackson is 4. He will be in kindergarten next year, and it blows my mind! It seems like he was just a baby! He loves to learn new things and is always asking questions. He doesn't forget a thing.he always reminds me to take my "pocketpurse" with me. For some reason, he loves to call me a little lady He is really into Lego Duplo right now. He loves to build and play.

Brooks is 2! He has become quite the talker! He is a backseat driver and tells "this way or that way." I love how he says button. He says it "buhton." He can get moody when he is tired. I tried singing our songs one afternoon last week. "No sunshine, Mommy. No tinkle (twinkle), Mommy." I also love when he says, "Oh no-a mess and there it is!" He also loves to ask, "Where'd it go, Mommy?" He points out every truck he sees and loves to make siren noises! He calls Jackson's name a lot. It doesn't sound that much like it.This boy loves Curious George!  He has gotten very attached and become very much a Moma's boy. I have loved it.

My heart hurts knowing that I won't be the one to get them dressed for school or fix their breakfast. I won't get to take them on their first day or hear about all of the fun they had. I won't get to fix them lunch or get Brooks to take a nap. We won't get to watch the trash truck or color together or play with boxes. I love watching the boys play together and sing. It just makes me sad that I am missing out on all of the little things. We are so blessed that my mom keeps them. There is no way I could leave them with anyone else.

I know there are weekends,  but we spend most of those cleaning and getting ready for the next week. I feel blessed that I am able to spend the summer and other breaks with them, but I am still really depressed about leaving them. I know that realistically I can't stay home. Obviously we need health insurance with Brooks! We have bills to pay. I have to work if we ever have a chance of getting out of this house! I am very jealous of friends who get to stay home.

I know there will be tears my first day back(mine not theirs- they will be excited to be back at Noni's!). For now, I am going to soak up every minute of summer we have left and enjoy all of the blessings we have.

Busy Week

past two weeks, we have been to 6 ER/doctor visits! As it turns out, Brooks has tested positive for salmonella. He has to be on probiotics for a month and then retested. That is why he has been so sick. He is doing well with his cast. It doesn't seem to bother him.

We took Jackson to the Greenville Drive game with church. It was fun but hot! Popcorn and ice cream helped.

This was also the last week for Summer Fun. I did take Brooks on Thursday because he loved it and loved being with his friends Colt and Grady. Jackson had a blast! He was so excited to tell me about being explorers and loved making binoculars and a nature bracelet. I loved having the chance to drop off both boys and pick them up. I miss out on those things during the year. I am so glad that both boys had such a wonderful time, learned new things, and made some crafts.

We went to lunch at Sullivan's with Noni, TuTu, Brent, Whitney, and Parker. Then we took the boys to see the Minions movie. They were hilarious! They were singing and dancing and yelling, "King Bob." They clapped and ate tons of popcorn. It was a fun afternoon.

On Friday, we took the boys to the Lego Discovery Center in Atlanta. They boys loved it. They had a mini Atlanta made out of Legos. There were big pits of Legos for building. We also went to a 4D movie which the boys loved. Of course, we had to stop at the store. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory where the boys inhaled tuxedo cheesecake. Jackson said it was the best cake ever!

We have spent a quiet weekend with family. We enjoyed lunch with some cousins today.  I have 1 full week of summer left, and it is VBS week.

Brooks and the Blue Cast

We took Brooks to the orthopedic doctor today.  He did break his ulna (forearm) in 2 places. This is a problem because it cause the bones to not align correctly.  Apparently if you only break one, the other provides the support to keep the alignment.  He was asleep at the beginning of the appoint but quickly woke up.  The doctor had to try to manually move the bones into place.  He did not like that at all. He cried and cried and then cried as they put on the cast. Then we had to take X-Rays and more X-Rays. They were having trouble getting good pictures because of the size of his arm.  We go back next week for more X-Rays.  Then if everything is progressing, it will be about 3 more weeks.

I think he is kind of proud of his blue cast, but it is going to be a long 4 weeks with no running (right), playgrounds, and swimming/water. He had to miss water day at Summer Fun today.  He was so mad when we dropped off Jackson but not him.
