Fun in Greenville

We. Had a fun morning in Greenville. We went to the Upcountry History Museum to see this traveling castle exhibit. The boys loved it, and we basically had it to ourselves! Their favorite was the kitchen. It was really neat.

We also went to the Children's Museum. We didn't stay long because it was so crowded! We ate lunch and walked downtown hoping to ride the trolley, but we never found it. We headed to Costco and came home to watch the Tigers lose to Georgia. It was painful!

Midnight Flight

Tonight was the Midnight Flight. I wanted to take the boys to see the lanterns go up and see some of my kids race. We had Chick-fil-A and then played on the playground at Concord. Then we went to the Y. The boys had more fun running and playing in the grass than anything. Brooks especially loved running around. He was crazy!!!! He even walked up to some man stretching and started stretching with him.

We watched the one mile. I hope Jackson will run that with me next year. Then we saw them light the lanterns. The boys liked watching them go up. We watched the start of the 5k and then left with 2 dirty little boys. They were so dirty that they got baths at 10:30 at night!

Last Night at the Water Park

The water park closes this weekend, so we went one last time. The August heat has set in, and temps have been in the mid 90s all week, so the water felt great. There were only a few other kids there which was nice. The boys had a great time. Brooks went down the slide several times, and Jackson even went down once. Kind of.

As I was watching them play, I thought about how different things will be next summer. I will have a four year old and a two year old. That just seems crazy to me. Maybe I will feel more comfortable taking them by myself?

The boys are going to miss our weekly visit.

We Survived!

We all survived the first week of school! Jackson had a great second day. He read " the big bad wolf." He told us there were no pigs in the story.

On Thursday we took Berkley to dinner in Clemson. The boys were not on their best behavior, but the food was good.

On Friday we went to the water park. The boys loved it! Brooks is still determined to go down the slide by himself. He has learned to put his down when he reaches the bottom.  We ate at Chick-fila-A for dinner. Then we drove by Krispy Kreme just to see how long the line was ( It just opened Thursday, and the lines have been ridiculous!). Jackson said he really wanted donuts. The line wasn't that bad, so we went. We waited in line an hour! Of course as soon as we were 3 cars away from ordering, Jackson decided he didn't want donuts anymore. They were worth the wait! Jackson told me I could work at Krispy Kreme so I could bring donuts home to him. I guess I have found my next part time job!

On Saturday we went to Eggs Up Grill and headed to Clemson. I know it is hard to believe, but Brooks does not have a Clemson shirt that fits, so all of the boys got new shirts. Then we rested at home and went swimming with Parker. Brooks liked the big slide. We ate Guy's Pizza after. Jackson ate 3 pieces!

Brooks has some new words- stinky, quack. His favorite is uh oh. In fact he was wide awake in the crib one morning repeating "uh oh" over and over. At least he wasn't crying!

This week was a big adjustment for the boys. Jackson keeps asking if it is the week of school. He also asks why I have to go to work. His response is always the same " but I'm going to miss you." And my heart breaks.

Jackson's First Day of School

One of the perks of being a teacher is getting summers off, but that also means getting no time off during the year. It is really hard to take an hour off from work, so I missed Jackson's first day of preschool in the 3s room. In fact both boys were still asleep when I left.

Apparently Jackson did great. Tim and Noni walked him in and dropped off his supplies. He walked in and started playing with the toys. Apparently he cried for a little bit when they played in the gym. After last week, I was really worried about today. I am so proud of him! I can't believe how much he has grown up this summer. I am still heart broken that I couldn't drop him off.

I heard Brooks showed out again! He is one crazy child!

Jackson and the Dentist

Jackson had a dentist appointment this morning. Since it was my first day with kids, Tim had to take him.  I was really worried since our past experiences have not been good. We decided to take him to our dentist this time. It made all of the difference. He didn't cry or get upset. She polished his teeth and squirted water in his mouth. He got to play with Mr. Potato Head and a big set of teeth. He loved Dr. Andy, and everyone was so patient with him.

I know it was six months ago that we went to the other place, and he is older now. I truly believe the atmosphere makes all the difference. I am so glad he had such a positive experience.

Then Jackson decided he needed to bring me flowers and tell me about his trip to the dentist.  I was so excited to see them outside my door at school!

While we were eating dinner at home tonight we were having a conversation about " Welcome to Moe's."
Me: Jackson, you should work at Moe's when you get older.
Jackson : No, I can't work at my favorite place."
Me: okay
Jackson: I'll work at Publix.

Love this kid!

Clemson Fan Day 2014

To end our busy weekend, we went to Fan Day.  It was hot and very muggy. We went to see the Tiger and Tiger Cub first. There was hardly a line. Both boys were a little scared.

Then we got in line for some of the players. Brooks was excited about his autograph book. He wanted to eat the pages. We went back to see the Tiger and Cub again. Brooks really liked looking at them and roaring at them.

They were letting people on the field today, and the boys loved being able to run.  After our yearly picture at the Rock, we were all hot and ready to go.

We are ready for football season even though I am not sure how many games we will actually go to.
