Brooks -12 month Check-up

Brooks had his 12 month check-up on Thursday. He is healthy and was a trooper with his 4 shots. He didn't cry with Dr. Hart and showed off his walking skills!

Weight - 23 pounds, 9 ounces ( 78%)
Height- 2ft 5.5 inches (24%)
Head- 48 cm (91%)

Jackson weighed more and was taller, but Brooks has a bigger head!

Jackson's Last Week of Preschool

Jackson wrapped up his last week of school. He had a party on Tuesday. Noni and Brooks went.  Brooks made himself right at home. Jackson ate strawberry ice cream and got wild with his friends.

His program was Thursday- the same day and time as 5th grade awards day. I rushed out for his part and rushed back to school. His little class was so cute. He stood up there and of course put his hands in his mouth. He sang some of the songs.

His teachers were wonderful this year. They were so patient and loving. I am so thankful that Jackson ended up loving school. He is going to miss it.

Brooks is Walking!

After weeks of taking a few steps and then falling down laughing, Brooks is walking! He started walking a lot at Murphy's baseball game. Then more at home and throughout Wednesday. Now that is all he wants to do. We are in trouble!

He is a fast walker too and holds his arms out right in front of him. He is so proud of himself!

Memorial Day Weekend

Wow! We have had a great weekend. The month of May is so busy that everything seems to run together. I am currently on the couch with the two boys while they are napping, and I can't think of a better place to be! We have enjoyed resting and getting ready for the next two weeks. Jackson winds up preschool this week. Brooks has his 1 year check-up. Wrapping up the end of a school year is always crazy!

On Friday night, we went with my parents to Greenville to watch the Scottish parade. Jackson loves parades. Brooks didn't really like how loud it was, but he kept sticking his head out to see what was coming next. We had burgers for dinner and played at the airplane park. Brooks was a wild man on the slide. Jackson was a little more timid but proud of himself for going down it. Both enjoyed the swings. Jackson entertained us on the way home singing the Oskar Mayer bologna song.

On Saturday we slept in, kind of. We are starting to potty train and told Jackson he could have a car if  he went potty. He actually went in the potty. We were all so excited. We went to Toys-R-Us, and he picked out a big box of cars. We gave him one and told him he could get another one out the next time he went potty. He is actually content just to look at them through the box. It has been a fight getting him to go again. That night we went to take pictures of Brooks.

We enjoyed a lazy Sunday. Today we woke up early in hopes of seeing some hot air balloons. We saw  two but not what I hoped. We were too late. We settled for Eggs Up Grill instead. Both boys were really good! We came and played outside. These two love the water table. They were so dirty that they took baths before lunch.

Afternoon storms are rolling in so I don't know if we are going to get to grill our pizza. We have enjoyed our weekend and can't wait until summer! 9 days (school days), but who's counting?

Happy Saturday!

It has been a very exhausting week! We have 12 days of school left, and I can't wait for summer! I am ready for lazy days with the boys. Of course my lazy days won't start for awhile. I am excited that I got a job teaching summer school for a few weeks. I hate that I will miss out on time with the boys, but we really need the money. It is only 2 1/2 weeks. I will still have afternoons with them. Jackson will be at Summer Fun. We also have swimming lessons in June for both boys!

Brooks is taking more and more steps. I think he will be walking in the next few weeks! Tim walked in the dining room today, and he said, "Hey Da Da!" Tim has had the boys by himself the last 3 nights. On Wednesday I went to watch some of my girls in their dance recital. I took some classes at the Y on Thursday. Then I had a retirement party on Friday. He deserves a break after all of that!

We enjoyed a lazy morning and then headed to Greenville. We got Brooks his baptism outfit. We went to Costco. Then we went to the Greek Festival. Brooks loved trying all of the food.

We ended the day at the Children's Museum. Brooks has no fear! He was going head first down the slide and loving every minute of it! He is such a daredevil!

Aunt Susie's Visit

We were so excited that Aunt Susie came to visit!

On Friday we went to pick strawberries  and then to Guy's Pizza for dinner!  The boys were not on their best behavior.  I am not sure if we can ever eat inside again!

On Saturday we focused on the party.  Susie was a big help to watch the boys and then get Brooks down for a nap.

On Sunday we enjoyed an afternoon at the museum. These crazy boys love Susie!

Mother's Day 2014

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! Brooks and I spent the morning at church. Then we enjoyed lunch at McAlister's. Then we went to the Children's Museum for a fun afternoon. I love watching the boys at the water tables! We also went to the "Airplane Park." The boys had fun.

Then we went to dinner at Cookie's house. It was nice to spend the day with family. We went to my mom's after that to give her her gift.

I am so blessed to have so many wonderful mom role models. I have the best mom who has given up so much for me. She sacrificed so I could have what I wanted. She is the best Noni to my boys. I have  wonderful aunts and cousins. I only wish my boys could have met Nannie. She would have loved them!

The Hungry Caterpillar Party

Today Brooks had his first birthday party.  The weather was nice and cool, and we almost escaped with no rain.  The kids got to play, and then we moved to the porch for cake and presents during the storm.  Brooks had fun playing, eating, and opening presents.  He wanted so badly to run with Murphy and Jackson.  He tried to keep up with them by crawling.  He was so exhausted that he napped for almost 3 hours thanks to Susie.  Thankfully my mom helped make a lot of the decorations and of course the cookies.  Susie entertained the boys while we set everything up!

Brooks had a great first birthday!  We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family!

I loved the pictures of Jackson's first birthday.  I wish we could have had a professional for Brooks too, but these will have to do!
