Highlands, NC

We headed up to Highlands, NC on Friday. We stopped at some waterfalls first.  Jackson was a little nervous but then he liked it. Brooks wanted to be held the whole time. We enjoyed wandering around Highlands and ate pizza (Yes, we broke our diet.). Then the boys atedso ice cream.  It was nice to enjoy some cooler temperatures.  Apparently a cold front is coming!!! The boys were not impressed with the stores.  They are little expensive for us.

We got home around 5:00.  We were sitting in the living room when a storm came up really fast.  Thunder, hail, strong winds, heavy rain... It was really bad. We heard trees crashing and huge branches hitting our house.  Then the power went out and we could hear the pops and explosions from the transformers blowing. Apparently some trees in our neighbor's yard caught fire.  We decided to go to my parents' house. We actually had a hard time getting there because of all of the trees down and traffic lights out.

We stayed at Noni's for a little bit.  Tim called Duke Power, and it said our was power was on.  However, when we got home , it was not on.  We cleaned some of the yard.  Then went inside.  Thankfully my laptop was charged, and we watched Frozen downstairs.  We all attempted to sleep in the bunk beds since it was so hot upstairs. I ended up on the couch with Brooks.  We ended up watching Frozen again at 5:30 before the laptop died.  We were out of power all day.  Every time we called, the predicted time ended be several hours more.  Thankfully it was only in the 80s today, so we were able to clean up all of the branches and tree limbs and not be too hot in the house.

Jackson had a party to go to that evening.  He had a great time swimming. Since the power was still not on, the boys spent the night with Noni and Papa Jerry.  The power finally came on sometime during the night.  It was hot in our house, and we lost everything in our refrigerator and freezer for the second time this year. That gets to be really expensive.
